Misfit exhibition at Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.

Interesting to see an amazing the material sensitivity with which Jongerius executes her work.

Very clever manipulation and treatment of the material, applied for certain designs (rubber sink) is truly outstanding.

The approach for praising craftsmanship and the “handmade” in combination and in context of big productions is very clear and curious to see how Jongerius puts this point across in each piece, seeing it from different angles.

Seeing someone else’s work process feels like witnessing something very intimate.

Especially seeing takes and try-outs on material and form of someone, who, in my opinion, pretty much shaped the vision within the contemporary jewellery study and research.

…to remember the holidays that passed

there is something about walking around the streets of Siena

the city is left pretty much in its medieval state for better or for worse and its the best to get lost there at night

doors there become a sort of diary of the past times

people keep adding material to them when its necessary and at some point

a door stops being just a functional part of the architecture, but a piece of art, a canvas to look at.. in awe

Its quiet.

Old wooden cupboard creaks as you walk by. With the corner of your eye you notice some kind of stir in between the cracks of the wood.

Chills up your spine. You move closer and pull a worn out antique handle.

Slowly.

Rustle … hidden slightest moves and sounds… and as you look around trying to grasp what is happening, you can almost physically feel a stare of two empty orbits drilling the back of your head…

But creatures freeze in an instant as you lay your eye on them…

you can never ever be sure whether is was true…
